A Special Thank You
Opportunities To Engage
HOST AN EVENT
We have several events in our schedule each year, including an end of the year lake party, a Fourth of July party, a Christmas party and a leadership retreat for club leaders. Each of these is an opportunity for a family to creatively host a group of our amazing students. If you would like to explore all our events and consider hosting one, please contact our staff.
OFFER A ONE DAY EXTERNSHIP
Meet with a group of 3-4 students at your office or treat them to lunch in order to answer their questions and inform them about your career field and educational path. This is another low commitment, high impact way of giving our students a base of professional knowledge.
OFFER A PAID OR UNPAID INTERNSHIP IN YOUR INDUSTRY
One of the most significant challenges for first-generation college students attending Title 1 high schools is that they and their parents have almost no professional network. It is common for our students to indicate a career desire (i.e. engineer), while at the same time they admit never having met anyone in that profession. One of most powerful ways you can help is by arranging for one of our students to have a professional experience. Some of these are as short as one day of job shadowing and others are weeks or months of professional internship. If you would like to discuss this opportunity, please contact our staff.
SPONSOR ONE ELEVATION SCHOLAR – $4,000 PER YEAR FOR FIVE YEARS
Funding supports a Scholar from their junior year in high school through college graduation. This includes $6,000 in custom college admission support including: college trips, test prep, admissions coaching and scholarship application guidance to help them gain college admission. Once a student is admitted, the gift also funds four years of customized support ($14,000) designed to propel the Scholar to graduation. The average student last year received multiple offers with the largest averaging $248,000. It is very possible for several families to band together to make this commitment.
TEST PREP FOR ONE STUDENT – $950
Many times, a higher test score will open the doors to many of our nation’s most highly selective colleges and universities for our students. We like to offer test prep to students who, by adding a few points to a test score, will radically improve their options. Each test prep package includes a series of one-on-one meetings with a tutor, proctored practice tests and a set of study materials we recommend.
PROVIDE FOR STUDENT TRAVEL EXPENSES – AIRLINE MILES, HOTEL POINTS OR $500
One of the largest drivers of college failure for students like ours is when they are alone over a holiday weekend in the college dorm. For our college students, we offer as part of their support packages, the ability for the students to come home or for a family member to visit them. Also, each year in September, our Scholars take a trip to colleges in North Carolina and Georgia. Please consider joining our Elevation Scholars Travel Club which is a group of supporters that use their airline miles or hotel points to allow our Scholars to travel. Contact us for more information.
PROVIDE UBER/LYFT GIFT CARD – ANY AMOUNT
Transportation to program events is one of the greatest challenges for our students. The program spends more than $8,000 annually on Uber and Lyft to provide this transportation to events such as college admissions coaching and boot camps.
