April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month! Join us as we celebrate the community leaders who have given of their time and talents to advance the mission of Elevation Scholars.
Zane Henderson of Foundry Commercial first volunteered with Scholars in 2018. We caught up with Zane to learn more about his participation with the Scholars program.
Scholars: Why does contributing to Scholars’ mission of supporting high-achieving, high-need college-bound students matter to you?
Zane: Two reasons immediately come to mind. First, I enjoy contributing to the process of getting these students to the opportunities that they have earned through their grit and talent. Second, as someone who cares deeply about Central Florida, I couldn’t think of a better way to invest in the future of our town than to ensure the future leaders of the community have the opportunity to reach their potential as world-changers.
Scholars: What is your hope for the future of the Scholars program? Where would you like to see the program 10 years from now?
Zane: My hope is for the ‘family’ of Scholars to become even bigger, reaching more students and having more alumni mentoring them across the journey. At 20 years of impact, I can see a vision for 500 alumni and reaching 100 high-achieving, high-need students across Central Florida with pipelines to premier schools and ultimately premier employers in Central Florida where they can build careers. The result would change Central Florida for the better because these world-changers are the leaders at the helm.
